Slow down. You’ll Get There Faster.

I was born in a small BC mountain town on a houseboat on a glacial fed lake. Life there was slow. We came and went by boat according to the wind and weather. Washing was done by hand. Nighttime was lit by kerosene lanterns carefully filled. The slower I walked the more time I had to eat thimbleberries ripened by the summer sun.

Perhaps this way of life shaped me to move more slowly as a rule of thumb. I admit I resent having to move quickly. Most of my milestones in life have been on my own terms, my own biorhythms, my own timeline. But why? Slowing down to nature’s pace allows us to be attuned to our own rhythms. This is a place where accomplishments aren’t measured by a clock but by the pace of one’s cycles and inspirations. Where we are directed by the sun, the moon, the weather, and the seasons. Nature’s pace is often either gracefully slow, or abruptly powerful. She is meticulous in her creations, mindful, and innovative. These are words my friends and family often use to describe my ways. Call this my form of biomimicry.
